Regional Refugee Forum North East
The RRF Support for Community Action project has been established to provide specialised one to one support for both individuals and groups from new communities in the region (i.e. refugees and asylum seekers, and new migrants) who want to take action to assist their community. This work is principally funded by the Northern Rock Foundation, but the Arts Council North East will also part-fund one team member as an arts development specialist. We are therefore seeking to recruit four new Community Development Workers, including one with a specialist arts brief, whose role will involve outreach work to contact new groups; development work to help groups firm up their ideas for activities or services; delivering customised training to skill up groups and individuals; supporting and advising on funding bids and organising peer learning visits to good practice projects elsewhere.
The new workers, together with the Project Manager, will operate as a team within the Regional Refugee Forum. They will also link closely with existing BME and mainstream agencies and networks, with the aim of increasing knowledge of the additional and special needs/issues of refugee community sector (and new migrants groups) within these organisations. All posts will be subject to a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.
The posts are full time, although we will consider job share applicants. Please indicate on your application if you intend to work part time. All workers will be required to work flexibly to cover evening and weekend meetings if necessary. The posts will be based in the Regional Refugee Forum offices in Newcastle or Middlesbrough.
They will be line managed and supervised by the Project Manager. About The Regional Refugee Forum North East The RRF NE is an independent refugee-led membership organisation for the region’s refugee-led community organisations (RCOs) aimed at promoting the settlement and integration of asylum seekers and refugees.
