Services provided include:  A full-time Confidential Listening Service with trained volunteer listeners, Self-help groups, Advocacy Service and Drop-in facilities and FREE Creche facilities are also available. The 'Drop In' group offers a befriending service where women can meet other women for a cuppa and a chat. A creative expression group provided in partnership with Priority Healthcare Wearside, offers occupational therapy, which enables women to explore feelings of depression through expressive art and discussion sessions.

North Washington Neighbourhood Nursery is a joint initiative promoting a range of high quality education, childcare and family support services. It is partnership between Concord Nursery Centre, Usworth Colliery Nursery and the North washington Sure Start programme. It enables the knowledge and expertise from 3 organisations to be brought under one umbrella. The two local nurseries are well established and have excellent reputation within the locality.

Young children 0 - 3 yrs are predominantly cared for at Concord Nursery while 3 - 5 year old access education and care at Usworth colliery.

Extensions to both nurseries allow the extended provision to be offered to 42 children 0-5 years old for 50 weeks of the year, 8am and 6pm.  The childcare is affordable and flexible to met individual needs.

Information Wearside Women in Need was established in 1981. We offer advice and accommodation for women and children experiencing domestic violence. Staff are available 24 hours a day on our dedicated helpline. We also provide accommodation for homeless young women and run a project for women with mental health problems. Often people aren't aware that we also provide services for men - particularly homeless young men and men suffering from drug or alcohol addiction. Every Monday to Thursday between 10 and 2.30 a community drop-in is open at 23a Speculation Place, Concord (above Clare's Florists). The drop-in is open to all. Call in for a chat, a cup of coffee or some advice. A clothing store is also available. Donations of clothes, toys and tinned goods are always gratefully received.
